The Assistant Project Manager at Miller Electric supports the Project Manager in coordinating electrical construction projects, with emphasis on branch power and kitchen power installations. This client‑facing role involves assisting with estimating, subcontractor management, plan reviews, design issue resolution, and field coordination to ensure work meets project specifications and codes. The position offers hands‑on learning through daily collaboration with project teams, clients, and field personnel.
Essential Job Functions
- Assist in estimating project scope and costs
- Manage projects with subcontractors
- Communicate with clients and subcontractors
- Attend and actively participate in project coordination and owner/contractor/architect/engineer meetings as requested or required
- Research and preparation of change requests to resolve design issues for approval
- Research and recommend solutions to design document problems, including conflicts, interferences, and errors/omissions
- Monitor field work and/or contract work to ensure compliance with company standards, procedures, specifications, and codes
- Assist with the submittal process
- Assist in the tracking and completion of billing
Electrical Branch & Kitchen Power Duties:
- Support the layout, coordination, and installation of electrical branch circuits, including lighting, receptacles, power distribution, and equipment connections
- Assist with reviewing branch circuit drawings, identifying conflicts, and coordinating routes with field teams and other trades
- Help manage and track kitchen power installations for large commercial projects, including dedicated circuits for appliances, equipment drops, panel schedules, and load requirements
- Coordinate with the field to ensure all kitchen equipment receives proper power, breakers, and wiring per plans and code
- Review electrical details for branch and kitchen areas to confirm they meet NEC requirements, project specifications, and client expectations
- Assist in generating RFIs related to electrical branch power, kitchen equipment loads, and field coordination issues
REQUIRED:
- A College degree, journeyman’s license, or master electrician’s license
- Understanding of electrical installations and drawings
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
