The Assistant Project Manager at Miller Electric supports the Project Manager in coordinating electrical projects, including sports lighting installations. This client‑facing role focuses on learning through hands‑on experience while assisting with project planning, communication, and execution across a variety of electrical scopes.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist in estimating project scope and costs
- Manage projects with subcontractors
- Communicate with clients and subcontractors
- Attend and actively participate in project coordination and owner/contractor/architect/engineer meetings as requested or required
- Research and preparation of change requests to resolve design issues for approval
- Research and recommend solutions to design document problems, including conflicts, interferences, and errors/omissions
- Monitor field work and/or contract work to ensure compliance with company standards, procedures, specifications, and codes
- Assist with the submittal process
- Assist in the tracking and completion of billing
Electrical Sports Lighting Responsibilities:
- Support planning and coordination of sports lighting installation projects, including stadiums, athletic fields, and recreational facilities
- Assist in reviewing lighting layouts, photometric designs, pole layouts, and fixture specifications
- Coordinate with lighting manufacturers and suppliers to ensure accurate procurement of sports‑lighting equipment
- Monitor installation of lighting poles, fixtures, controls, and underground/overhead feeds to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards
- Help manage scheduling and sequencing of lighting work to align with field conditions and project milestones
- Support aiming, testing, and commissioning of sports lighting systems, including light‑level verification
- Identify and help resolve design or field issues related to mounting heights, lighting uniformity, wiring methods, and control systems
- Maintain documentation and updates for sports lighting submittals, RFIs, change orders, and checkout packages.
REQUIRED:
- A College degree, journeyman’s license, or master electrician’s license
- Understanding of electrical installations
- Strong computer skills - Specifically Microsoft 365
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
