Our client is a Local Authority based in Devon and they are seeking a Principal Planning Officer to join them for a 12 month contract role and carry out a full range of development management functions.

You will manage complex pre-application negotiations and subsequent planning applications for major and strategic development in the Borough. You will assist the Team Leader in managing the statutory Development Management functions, prepare reports and recommendations, prepare appeal statements, and give evidence to public hearings/ inquiries.

To apply you will need a relevant planning degree, extensive development management experience and an excellent knowledge of UK planning regulations and guidance; ideally you will be professionally accredited.

You will need to have good leadership and negotiation skills and be comfortable dealing with external organisations and have extensive experience of presenting at committee. Experience of assessing factors such as Affordable Housing, Daylight and Sunlight and other micro climate issues is also required.

Our client offers hybrid working and the rate offered is £53/hr Umbrella and this role is inside IR35.
