Carriera is pleased to be partnering with an established multi-disciplinary property and construction consultancy to recruit an experienced Building Regulations Principal Designer to join their growing Building Safety team in London.

This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional with a Building Surveying, Building Control, Clerk of Works or similar technical background to take a leading role across a varied portfolio of projects, including Higher-Risk Buildings, complex refurbishments, new developments and major public sector schemes.

You'll work closely with architects, engineers, surveyors and specialist consultants, taking responsibility for Building Regulations Principal Designer duties and helping clients navigate the requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022.

The role offers genuine technical responsibility, client exposure and the opportunity to influence how Building Safety compliance is delivered across complex and nationally significant projects.

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams to demonstrate compliance with the Building Regulations.
  • Develop and manage Building Regulations compliance strategies in line with the Building Safety Act.
  • Review technical design information across architectural, structural and building services disciplines.
  • Prepare and maintain Building Regulations Compliance Records and associated project documentation.
  • Support clients with competence declarations and Building Safety Act requirements.
  • Prepare and coordinate Building Regulations Conformance Statements and Gateway documentation where required.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, Building Control Approvers and wider project stakeholders.
  • Undertake periodic site inspections and monitor design changes throughout project delivery.
  • Coordinate internal resources while managing project programmes and budgets.
  • Contribute to the continued development of the Building Safety service.

  • Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Commercial awareness and experience managing programmes and budgets.
