1-1 Learning Support Assistant  Make a meaningful difference every day. Join a specialist SEN school supporting children and young people aged 2 - 19 with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Autism, and other complex needs. Our pupils may also have physical or sensory impairments. Here, your dedication will help pupils gain confidence, independence, and joy in learning within a warm, nurturing environment. About the role: This role is ideal for someone with a genuine desire to make a difference and experience supporting young people with complex needs. You will work closely with pupils, particularly secondary-aged, with challenging behaviours, providing vital support both in the classroom and beyond. Location: Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire Start Date: April 2026 Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 15:30 (term time only) Pay: £95.00 - £105 p/Day (including holiday pay) Contract: Temp to Permanent Learning Support Assistant Responsibilities: Build trusting, consistent relationships with pupils to help them feel safe and supported Assist with delivering personalised learning plans that encourage development and engagement Provide 1:1 and small group support focusing on communication, behaviour regulation, and sensory needs Support pupils with personal care and mobility as required, following individual care plans Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to create a cohesive and positive learning environment Help pupils develop independence through community-based activities and life skills. Please note that the role does involve some regular physical activity e.g. interventions, interacting with students through play on the floor and responding promptly to escalated situations.  Learning Support Assistant Requirements: Experience working with children or young people with SEN, including SLD, PMLD, ASD, or behaviours that challenge A calm, patient and proactive approach to supporting pupils Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply) registered on the Update Service Full Time Right to Work in the UK
