Come join a team that is dedicated to making an impact for the people and communities we serve.<br> <br> The Correctional Officer, Canine performs routine duties in accordance with established policies, regulations and procedures to maintain order and provide for the security, care and direct supervision of inmates/residents in housing units, at meals, during recreation, on work assignments and during all other phases of activity in a correctional facility. May employ weapons or force to maintain discipline and order. </font></span></p><ul><li><span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman";"><font size="3">Responsible for maintaining order and security of inmates in a correctional facility. </font></span></li><li><span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman";"><font size="3">Able to work any shift, as you may be assigned to a variety of posts including, but not limited to, armory/key control, housing units, kitchen, medical, visitation, etc.</font></span></li><li><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman";"><font size="3">Utilize dogs to patrol, secure and investigate, as required, the facility, its grounds, inmate/resident disturbances and contraband possession; aid in the prevention of escapes and apprehension of escapees; and help maintain security and control of contraband.</font></span></li><li><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman";"><font size="3">Maintain records of all K-9 activities.</font></span></li><li><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman";"><font size="3">Run distances of several miles (with canine).</font></span></li><li><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman";"><font size="3"> </font></span><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium;">CoreCivic recognizes your military service to qualify you for positions </span><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: "Times New Roman";">requiring criminal justice experience. </span></li></ul></font></span></p><p><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman";"><font size="3"><p><span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman";"><font size="3"><strong>Qualifications:</strong> </font></span></p><ul><li><span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman";"><font size="3">High school diploma, GED certification or equivalent required.</font></span></li><li><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman";"><font size="3">Two years of experience in a criminal justice field with demonstrated knowledge of correctional procedures as outlined in the facility’s policies. </font></span></li><li><span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman";"><font size="3">Once hired, must complete pre-service correctional officer training and, where applicable, be a non-commissioned security officer licensed by the state of employment.</font></span></li><li><span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman";"><font size="3">Demonstrate the ability to complete any required training.</font></span></li><li><span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman";"><font size="3">Must be available to work any hours, any shift.</font></span></li><li><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman";"><font size="3">Ability to care for and train canines; and a willingness to devote a minimum of two (2) years to the training and supervision of the detection canine. </font></span></li><li><span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman";"><font size="3">Demonstrate knowledge and ability to care for and train canines.</font></span></li><li><span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman";"><font size="3">Demonstrate unusually high stamina/conditioning level.</font></span></li><li><span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman";"><font size="3">A valid driver's license is required.</font></span></li><li><span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman";"><font size="3">Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.</font></span></li></ul> <p><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman";"><i><span style="color: black;"><font size="3">CoreCivic is a Drug-Free Workplace & EOE including Disability/Veteran.</font></span></i></span></p></font></span></p>
