<p><b>Preventative Maintenance Diesel Mechanic- Hood River, Oregon 97037</b></p><p><b>Location:</b> Hood River, OR<br /><b>Company:</b> Hood River Garbage – A Waste Connections Company<br /><b>Schedule:</b> Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM<br /><b>Overtime:</b> As Needed<br /><b>Pay Range:</b> $28.00 – $32.00 per hour (DOE)<br /><b>Safety Sensitive Position:</b> Yes</p><p></p><p>Hood River Garbage, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a dependable <b>Preventative Maintenance Diesel Mechanic</b> to support our fleet operations in Hood River, Oregon. This role heavily focuses on scheduled preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on a diverse fleet of refuse trucks and equipment to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance.</p><p>This is a <b>stable, long‑term opportunity</b> for entry to mid-level mechanics looking to grow with an industry leader while working in a safety‑focused, team‑driven environment.</p><p></p><p><b>Key Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li>Perform <b>preventive maintenance services and mechanical repairs</b> on fleet vehicles and equipment</li><li>Familiarity with <b>Cummins, Paccar, Freightliner and International systems</b> a plus</li><li>Conduct <b>routine safety inspections</b> to ensure compliance with company, DOT, and OSHA standards</li><li>Review and complete repairs identified on <b>Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs)</b></li><li>Complete accurate documentation using <b>fleet maintenance software</b>, including parts usage and labor time</li><li>Communicate clearly with senior mechanic and/or Maintenance Manager regarding required repairs and vehicle status</li><li>Maintain a <b>clean, organized, and safe work area</b></li><li>Perform additional maintenance related tasks as needed.
