About the role:
We are on the lookout for an enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming secondary school in Thetford from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced teaching assistants, youth workers, or individuals looking to gain valuable classroom experience within a school setting.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning during teacher absences by supervising classes and ensuring students remain engaged with pre-set work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise classes across a range of subjects in the absence of the classroom teacher.
- Deliver pre-planned lesson materials and instructions.
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school’s policies.
- Ensure a positive, productive and safe learning environment.
- Support students in completing set tasks and activities.
- Report on student engagement and behaviour to teaching staff.
Pre-requisites:
- Be a qualified HTLA, Teacher, University Graduate or hold referenceable previous cover supervisor experience and GCSE level 4 in Maths and English or equivalent.
- Be able to supply at least 2 education/school-based references from the last two years.
- Be able to establish constructive relationships with learners and interact according to individual needs.
- Have an adaptable attitude and ability to flexibly move age range from one period to the next.
