This role sits within a business delivering complex marine and offshore activities, supporting long-term operational and project requirements through structured contracting and commercial governance. The position focuses on contract drafting, review, negotiation, and in-life contract support, working closely with internal stakeholders to manage risk, support delivery, and maintain consistent contractual standards across a varied portfolio of activities. Hybrid working is available, with four days per week in the office and one working from home.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting, reviewing, qualifying, and negotiating a wide range of commercial and contractual documents, including framework agreements, amendments, novation agreements, NDAs, and letters of intent.
- Providing contractual advice on non-standard terms and conditions, guarantees, and complex contractual matters.
- Supporting the establishment and renewal of framework agreements and providing contractual input to long-term charter and service arrangements.
- Advising on warranty claims, loss or damage claims, and other complex contractual issues.
- Overseeing contractual and commercial aspects of capital expenditure activity related to operational assets, upgrades, and modifications.
- Managing complex asset-related transactions, including sale, purchase, recycling, flag transfer, and change of ownership.
- Working with internal functions including finance, tax, HR, legal, and compliance to ensure contractual risks are identified and addressed.
- Supporting governance, deviation, and approval processes, and contributing to the continuous improvement of contracting procedures and templates.
- Supporting training, mentoring, and the development of contractual capability within the wider team.
- Building and maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders across operational and support functions.
About you:
- Background in a contracts or commercial role within offshore, marine, energy, or engineering sectors.
- Strong experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts in an operational or project-based environment.
- Ability to identify, assess, and manage contractual and commercial risk.
- Commercially minded, with a clear understanding of how contractual terms support wider business objectives.
- Confident engaging with technical, operational, and commercial stakeholders.
- Degree educated in Law, Business Management, or a related discipline, with further professional or legal qualifications beneficial.
