About the Role
<p><strong>FinOps Engineer – £90,000</strong></p>
<p><strong>Location:</strong> Remote/Hybrid</p>
<p><strong>Future Team Growth:</strong> Yes – role is pivotal as AI & cloud investment increases.</p>
<p><strong>Role Summary</strong></p>
<p>This is a <strong>true Lead FinOps role</strong> – not a junior cost-optimisation analyst. They’re looking for someone who has <strong>been there, seen it, done it</strong> across FinOps process maturity, cloud cost governance, cross‑team collaboration, and cloud financial management.</p>
<p>The person will take ownership of:</p>
<ul>
<li>FinOps practices, guardrails, policies & controls</li>
<li>Working across engineering, infrastructure, product, and finance teams</li>
<li>Leading cloud cost optimisation across <strong>Azure</strong> and ideally <strong>AWS</strong></li>
<li>Driving accountability, transparency, and reporting</li>
<li>Ensuring cloud cost models support upcoming <strong>major AI investment</strong></li>
</ul>
<p>This role sits in Infrastructure today but is expected to grow into a larger FinOps function later.</p>

<p><strong>Core Requirements</strong></p>
<p><strong>Technical</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Deep experience in <strong>FinOps</strong>, ideally working in a mature FinOps culture</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of <strong>Microsoft licensing</strong>, Azure cost structures, EA agreements, reservations, savings plans</li>
<li>Broad understanding of <strong>Azure architectures</strong></li>
<li>Bonus: exposure to <strong>AWS</strong> cost management</li>
<li>Strong processes/control mindset: tagging standards, budgets, governance</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Soft Skills</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Exceptional <strong>communication & stakeholder management</strong></li>
<li>Must be comfortable working across Product, DevOps, Infra & Finance</li>
<li>Able to challenge teams respectfully and influence spend behaviour</li>
<li>Senior enough to talk to directors, CTO, product leadership</li>
