Overview:
If you enjoy hands-on electrical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and supporting mission-critical infrastructure, this Electrician III role offers the opportunity to maintain and enhance complex electrical systems within a secure government facility environment.
This position supports facilities maintenance operations, electrical system reliability, life-safety compliance, and infrastructure upgrades in a high-availability setting.
Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform daily inspections, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance on high-voltage and low-voltage electrical distribution systems
Troubleshoot and repair variable frequency drives (VFDs), air handling units (AHUs), motors, automatic transfer switches (ATS), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), lighting control systems, and branch circuits
Conduct root cause analysis for electrical faults and implement corrective actions to restore system functionality
Support emergency response efforts for power outages and equipment failures
Installation & System Upgrades
Install, test, repair, and upgrade electrical panels, switchgear, transformers, breakers, conduits, and distribution circuits
Execute electrical modifications in compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC) and NFPA 70E standards
Interpret and update electrical blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications, including redline markups
Assist with infrastructure modernization and capital improvement projects
Preventive Maintenance & Compliance
Perform infrared thermography scans, electrical load testing, and safety inspections
Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, electrical safety standards, and government facility requirements
Document maintenance activities within computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
Participate in safety audits and continuous improvement initiatives
Collaboration & Operational Support
Coordinate with facilities management, HVAC technicians, and other skilled trades to ensure integrated building systems performance
Provide on-call support for after-hours emergency maintenance
Contribute to operational readiness within a secure federal environment
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
U.S. Citizenship
Active Tier 3 / NACLC / Secret security clearance
Minimum 3 years of experience in the electrical trade (5+ years preferred)
Demonstrated experience with high-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems
Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA safety standards, and electrical lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures
Experience servicing motors, VFDs, UPS systems, ATS equipment, transformers, and lighting systems
Ability to work at heights, climb ladders, operate lifts, and perform tasks in confined spaces
Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
Preferred Qualifications
OSHA 10 certification
Experience in government, federal, or secure facility maintenance environments
Familiarity with CMMS platforms and preventive maintenance scheduling
