About the Role

About the role:

A specialist SEND school in Skegness is seeking a Nurture Group Practitioner to support primary pupils who benefit from additional emotional, social, and developmental support within a nurturing learning environment. The school works with children and young people who may have experienced barriers to learning, including SEMH needs, Autism, attachment difficulties, and communication challenges.

Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams, you will help create a safe and supportive environment where pupils can develop confidence, build positive relationships, and engage successfully in learning. This role is to start in the new academic year and has the protentional to be extended into a permanent role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils within nurture groups, delivering activities designed to develop social, emotional, and communication skills.
  • Build positive and consistent relationships that help pupils feel secure, valued, and supported.
  • Encourage emotional regulation, resilience, and positive behaviour through structured and nurturing approaches.
  • Support learners to access classroom activities and engage positively with their education.
  • Assist with intervention programmes focused on confidence building, self-esteem, and personal development.
  • Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to implement support strategies tailored to individual needs.
  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute observations to support plans and review meetings.

Pre-requisites:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, SEMH, behavioural, or emotional needs.
  • Understanding of nurture principles, attachment awareness, or trauma-informed practice.
  • Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach when supporting learners facing challenges.
  • Relevant qualifications or experience within education, childcare, youth work, care, or support services.
