<p>Mechanical Design Engineer 6791</p>
<p><strong>Location:</strong> Worcester<br />
<strong>Hours:</strong> 36.75 hours, Monday – Thursday 8am – 4.30pm Friday 8am-12.45pm <br />
<strong>Salary:</strong> £40,000 per annum</p>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities of a Mechanical Design Engineer</strong></p>
<p>Product Design & Development</p>
<ul>
<li>
<p>Contribute to the design, development, and testing of mechanical components and assemblies.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Collaborate with project teams to ensure designs meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Produce and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, drawings, operation manuals, and build/test procedures.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Manage components and bills of materials within internal systems.</p>
</li>
</ul>
<p>Product Maintenance</p>
<ul>
<li>
<p>Refine existing product designs to improve performance, durability, and manufacturability.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Develop solutions for component and system faults throughout the product lifecycle.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation.</p>
</li>
</ul>
<p>Application Engineering</p>
<ul>
<li>
<p>Design mechanical solutions tailored to customer needs, ensuring designs meet functional and performance requirements.</p>
</li>
</ul>
<p>Sales, Manufacturing, Commissioning & Customer Support</p>
<ul>
<li>
<p>Work with the sales team to provide timely responses to customer queries.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Support technical aspects of proposals, production builds, installations, and commissioning.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Provide guidance during installations to ensure customer satisfaction.</p>
</li>
</ul>
<p>Professional Development & Collaboration</p>
<ul>
<li>
<p>Maintain and expand professional and technical knowledge through training, research, and professional networks.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and engineering advancements.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Collaborate with engineering colleagues and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.</p>
</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Key Skills of a Mechanical Design Engineer</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>
<p>HNC/HND or degree in mechanical engineering.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Preferably 5 years’ experience in mechanical design engineering.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Experience with PLM, FEA, and CFD tools.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Hands-on experience with CAM/CAE tools.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software for modelling, drawings, and analysis.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Familiarity with engineering analysis tools and mathematical computing software (ANSYS, Matlab, Excel, LabView, etc.).</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Strong understanding of mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, and materials science.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Creativity, analytical skills, and technical writing abilities.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Manufacturing experience is advantageous.</p>
</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Essential Criteria</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>
<p>Experience designing water brake dynamometers, or alternatively, experience with high-speed rotating components up to 25,000 rpm.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Active use of SolidWorks in current or recent employment.</p>
</li>
</ul>
