This is a permanent, full-time role based in Gaydon. Hybrid working is available.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Vehicle Diagnostic Author to join a collaborative and professional team supporting a leading automotive OEM. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in vehicle diagnostics and a strong understanding of automotive electronic systems who are passionate about creating clear, accurate, and effective technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the diagnosis of complex vehicle faults using symptoms, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), and engineering data.
  • Develop and author diagnostic workflows that guide technicians through fault-finding and repair processes.
  • Create, manage, review, and publish technical diagnostic content for use by dealer networks and service technicians.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and subject matter experts to gather, validate, and interpret technical information.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate and aligned with quality standards.
  • Contribute to diagnostic solution development, testing, and validation activities.
  • Work effectively within a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Understanding of vehicle systems development, programme integration, and diagnostics processes.
  • Expert in Microsoft Office packages.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to diagnose faults.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience producing technical documentation from a variety of information sources.
  • The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Professional and customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience in diagnostic technical authoring.
  • Knowledge of Simplified Technical English (STE).
  • Experience using 3D CAD or modelling software.
