JAX’s student programs help educate and develop students to become future leaders in science and biomedical research. Learn more about these student developmental opportunities across JAX campuses in Bar Harbor, ME; Farmington, CT; Sacramento, CA and remotely.

The Jackson Laboratory’s seasonal internships provide opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to gain practical experience in their field and better understand the "real world" applications of their academic studies.

The Roux Co-op program, in partnership with the Roux Institute at Northeastern University, offers eligible co-op students the opportunity to work as full-time team members at JAX for six months. Students collaborate with supervisors to set learning objectives and receive ongoing coaching and mentorship. Applications for the January-June co-op open in mid-late September, while the July-December co-op applications open in mid-late February. Students must apply through NUworks and will be directed to JAX’s application. Co-op positions are available on JAX campuses and remotely within the U.S.

Along with our flagship Summer Student Program, JAX offers opportunities for academic year research, teacher professional development and the Maine State Science Fair.

The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) is collaborating with Eastern Maine Community College (EMCC) and Maine Maritime Academy (MMA) to offer apprenticeships to students enrolled in specific technical programs. These apprenticeships provide practical experience and the potential for full-time employment at JAX with a family-sustaining wage upon completion. Participants receive an hourly wage during their apprenticeship and a competitive salary after graduation.
