About the Role
Rhino Medical is actively seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a locum tenens urgent care assignment supporting two clinic locations in southwest Kansas (Garden City and Liberal).
This is an excellent opportunity for an APP who enjoys urgent care autonomy, flexible scheduling, and short-term travel assignments, with mileage and lodging fully covered.
Providers will practice in modern urgent care clinics with strong support staff and manageable patient volume while delivering high-quality care to patients of all ages.
Assignment Overview
Location: Garden City, KS & Liberal, KS
Position: Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
Setting: Outpatient Urgent Care Clinics
Assignment Dates: April 13 – May 15
Schedule: 4–6 shifts per week available
Clinic Hours:
Monday – Saturday
8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Sunday
1:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Providers may choose schedules within these hours depending on availability.
Mileage and lodging are fully covered for this assignment.
Practice Environment
Well-established urgent care clinics serving communities across southwest Kansas.
Providers work alongside experienced clinical teams including:
Medical Assistants
Front office staff
Radiology and diagnostic support
EMR: eClinicalWorks
Patient population includes pediatric through geriatric patients, providing a broad urgent care clinical experience.
Clinical Scope
Urgent care providers manage a variety of acute medical conditions including:
Upper respiratory infections
Minor injuries and sprains
Lacerations and wound care
UTIs and minor infections
Dermatologic complaints
Sports and occupational injuries
Procedures may include:
Suturing
Splinting
Incision & drainage
Basic urgent care procedures
Some occupational medicine visits may occur (work injuries, drug screens).
Typical Patient Volume
Approximately 20–30 patients per day
Balanced clinical pace with strong staff support.
Candidate Requirements
Active Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant certification
Kansas license preferred (or ability to obtain)
National certification (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA)
BLS certification required
Experience in Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Primary Care preferred
Ability to work independently in an urgent care environment
