A long-term, live in Housekeeper Cook role supporting a private family of four in a countryside residence, suited to an organised, child-friendly candidate with a proactive and flexible approach.

This is a structured, long-term role suited to an experienced housekeeper cook seeking a stable and welcoming family environment, with a focus on maintaining high standards and supporting a busy household
The role is based within a semi-formal private family home in the countryside, supporting a family of four with two young children aged 4 and 6. The household is well-supported, with a cleaner assisting approximately 16 hours per week for deep cleaning, alongside additional staff including a handyman and gardeners.
This is a traditional housekeeping role with cooking responsibilities, requiring someone confident managing the day-to-day running of the home.
The successful candidate will benefit from lovely separate accommodation, comprising a 2–3 bedroom cottage with its own bathroom, sitting room, and kitchen. Partners are welcome.
Initially, the family will be in residence at weekends only, transitioning to full-time residence from September. The successful candidate will be adaptable to this change in household rhythm.
The role includes occasional travel to the family’s beach house on the Isle of Wight, where accommodation will be provided in a nearby hotel. This is a long-term position suited to someone looking to become part of a warm and established household.
Job specification:
Daily cleaning and tidying of the home to a high standard
Preparing and serving family breakfast
Clearing breakfast and maintaining a clean, organised kitchen
Preparing lunch when required
Cooking evening meals for the family
Making and changing bed linen
Laundry and ironing
Organising the home and maintaining household systems
Managing online grocery shopping
Keeping the kitchen and larder well organized
Supporting the smooth day to day running of the household
Candidate specification:
Proven experience in a similar housekeeper cook role within a private household
Highly organised with strong attention to detail
Warm, child-friendly, and happy working in a family environment
Proactive with a “muck-in” attitude
Flexible and adaptable to changing household needs
Good sense of humour and personable approach
Willing and able to travel with the family when required to their beach house on the Isle of Wight – accommodation will be in a hotel close to the home
Looking for a long-term position
Full driving licence and own vehicle essential
Accommodation: Separate accommodation – 2/3 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, sitting room – partners welcome
