About the Role
Central Bedfordshire Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Qualified Social Worker to join its Corporate Parenting Team. This role focuses on supporting children in care and care leavers, ensuring they receive high-quality care, stability, and positive life outcomes.
You will play a key role in delivering effective care planning, promoting permanence, and ensuring that every child's voice is heard throughout their journey in care.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of Looked After Children (LAC) and care leavers
Develop and review care plans, ensuring they are child-centred and outcome-focused
Undertake statutory visits and maintain strong relationships with children and carers
Work towards achieving permanency, including reunification, long-term fostering, or adoption
Participate in Looked After Reviews and multi-agency meetings
Support pathway planning for young people transitioning to independence
Liaise with foster carers, residential settings, and partner agencies
Prepare high-quality reports for court and review processes
Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and safeguarding procedures
Essential Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
Experience within Corporate Parenting / LAC / Children in Care teams
Strong knowledge of care planning, permanency, and statutory requirements
Experience working with children in care and care leavers
Ability to manage a varied caseload and meet deadlines
Excellent communication, assessment, and relationship-building skills
