About the role:
Justteachers are pleased to be working in partnership with a supportive and well run Secondary school in Norwich, who are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full time, long term supply basis, starting September.
This school is committed to inclusive education and provides targeted support to ensure all pupils can access learning successfully. The SEND department is well established, with strong pastoral systems and a collaborative team approach focused on supporting students’ academic progress and emotional wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide in-class support to students with SEND, ensuring they can access lesson content
- Work on a 1:1 or small group basis to reinforce understanding and build confidence
- Support students with organisation, focus, and engagement in lessons
- Apply behaviour strategies to support students with additional needs
- Work alongside subject teachers to adapt tasks and resources
- Assist with interventions aimed at improving literacy, numeracy, or social skills
- Monitor student progress and contribute to support planning
Pre-requisites:
- Previous experience working with young people, ideally within a school or SEND setting
- An understanding of SEND needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties
- The ability to build strong, positive relationships with secondary-aged students
- Confidence supporting behaviour and emotional regulation
- A patient, consistent, and proactive approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with staff
- Commitment to a full time role starting in September
- Two recent education based references
