A specialist SEN school in the Peterlee area is recruiting a Trainee Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 6–10 years who have speech, language and communication needs.
Responsibilities Supporting children during speech and language activities
Assisting with reading and storytelling sessions
Helping pupils understand classroom instructions
Encouraging verbal communication and confidence
Supporting small group learning activities
Assisting teachers in adapting lessons for SEN learners
Supporting emotional wellbeing and confidence building
Experience Previous experience working with children is desirable but not required.
The school welcomes applicants who are enthusiastic about starting a career in education and offers roles on a trainee pay scale for those new to SEN support.
Training Opportunities Staff receive guidance and training in areas such as:
