The Maintainer Foreman is a working Maintainer and will have supervisory duties, including supervising all Maintainers assigned to a group, performing administrative duties as assigned by manager, and preparing and conducting job safety briefings with employees. This position will further include the following duties and responsibilities.  Responsible for installing, testing, inspecting, maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, assembling, and/or dismantling inside/outside communications equipment, parts, and related items.   INSTALL, TEST, AND MAINTAIN:  Fiber optics, cables, towers, antenna work, power plant, and microwave/radio sites  Termination of overhead/underground cabling and fiber  Tower work, including tower erection, rigging, installation and maintenance and mowing/weed control  OPERATE TRUCKS/EQUIPMENT:  Operate motor trucks, tractors, trenchers, digging machines, hole digging machines, and other equipment and machines used on or off track to perform Telecom work  The duties and responsibilities in this posting are representative categories to be used in deciding whether to apply for this position. This is not an exhaustive list of the position’s duties.  WORKING CONDITIONS  Extreme all-weather conditions  Walk and perform work on uneven surfaces  Loud noise and fumes  Work on and around heavy and moving machinery  Safety sensitive work environment  SHIFTS/HOURS  Full-time - 6 days a week (5 regular working days (40 hrs/wk) and one on-call day)  Subject to on-call (24/6), overtime, alternate shifts, nights, weekends, holidays  Shift assignments are governed by union agreement, typically based on seniority   TRAVEL  Moderate  Headquartered location with travel around the seniority (designated) region and remain away from home for up to days or weeks at a time  BASIC QUALIFICATIONS  21 years of age or older  Ability to report for duty at the designated work location  Able to work safely in the above working conditions  Able to work the above shift/hours   Able to meet the above travel requirements  Able to read, write and communicate (speak, hear and understand) in English  Able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds   Have a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), or be able to obtain one within 240 days of employment  Able to visually distinguish among red, blue, green and yellow colors  Ability to discriminate and differentiate between verbal and non-verbal sounds (signals, alarms, etc.) in the work environment.  Able to use hands and hand tools to perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning and pulling  Able to climb ladders and on/off equipment  Able to occasionally work from a boom truck basket  Able to bend, walk, stand and sit occasionally with breaks   Follow safety policies and procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment required for the job in a safe manner  Able to occasionally climb and perform work on tower structures in excess of 50 feet  3 years minimum of verifiable experience coordinating information from several sources to assign work assignments and coordinate schedules  1-year minimum of verifiable experience conducting analysis of computer-generated reports  Able to multitask technical activities and office duties  1-year minimum of verifiable experience in budgeting and material management  TRAINING  Company paid on-the-job training is provided  RELOCATION  Assistance not available  UNION  International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers  Dues required per union agreement  PROBATIONARY PERIOD  120 Days  BENEFITS: BNSF Employees receive a competitive benefit package.
