About the Role

1:1 Teaching Assistant within a Specialist School I am working with a warm, welcoming specialist school in Iflord looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant who brings patience, creativity, and genuine care into the classroom every single day. If you’re someone who notices the small wins, builds strong one-to-one connections, and understands that every child communicates in their own unique way, you’ll feel right at home here. What you’ll be doing You’ll be providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs, helping them access learning in a way that works for them. That might look like: Supporting personalised learning activities tailored to the pupil’s needs Helping regulate emotions and build a sense of safety and trust Encouraging communication through verbal and non-verbal methods Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals Creating a consistent, calm, and engaging environment where your pupil can thrive No two days will look the same, and that’s exactly what makes this role so special. What we’re looking for Experience supporting SEND or complex needs is ideal A calm, nurturing approach and a good sense of humour Someone who’s patient, observant, and genuinely invested Confidence working as part of a wider team A willingness to learn, adapt, and grow Bonus points if you’re familiar with strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or sensory support, but don’t worry if not, full support and training will be provided.
