Secondary Teaching Assistant (SEN Focus)
📍 Eastbourne, East Sussex⏰ Full-Time 📆 Immediate Start Available
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Eastbourne. This role has a strong focus on behaviour management, supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), and assisting the class teacher to ensure a positive and productive learning environment.
The Role
You will work closely with pupils who require additional support, either on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, both in and out of the classroom. A confident and calm approach to managing behaviour is essential, as you will support pupils with a range of academic, social, and emotional needs.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting pupils with SEN on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
Managing and supporting behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy
Assisting the class teacher during lessons and with classroom organisation
Helping pupils remain focused, engaged, and on task
Adapting support to meet individual learning and emotional needs
Providing feedback to teaching and pastoral staff on pupil progress
Supporting pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development
The Ideal Candidate
Has strong behaviour management skills and a calm, patient approach
Experience working with SEN pupils (desirable but not essential)
Confident working with secondary-aged pupils (KS3 & KS4)
Able to support both individuals and small groups effectively
Reliable, proactive, and passionate about inclusive education
