About the Role
Position Purpose
The Safety Coordinator supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Ambler Metals' safety programs at the Bornite Camp. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; promotes a strong safety culture; and provides training, oversight, and guidance to personnel and contractors. The position is essential to maintaining a safe, compliant, and proactive work environment during seasonal field operations.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Development and Implementation
Collaborate with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures
Maintain current knowledge of safety rules, regulations, and best practices
Coordinate site safety programs to promote a safe and compliant working environment
Identify opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health issues
Training and Competency
Work with supervisors to ensure personnel are trained to safely perform duties and identify hazards
Ensure SOPs and JHAs are completed and documented
Develop and deliver site‑wide, departmental, and individual safety training
Research, procure, and provide appropriate safety training and PPE
Inspections, Audits and Risk Management
Conduct continuous workplace and operational safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments
Perform inspections of exploration drill rigs
Implement a proactive hazard reporting program and resolve or escalate issues as appropriate
Incident Management
Facilitate and document incident and near‑miss investigations
Determine causes and corrective actions
Ensure corrective actions from investigations, audits, and improvement plans are implemented and effective
Compile and submit health and safety reports, including leading and lagging indicators
Ensure timely notification to Senior Management, regulatory agencies, and employees regarding serious incidents
Systems and Documentation
Manage the company EHS software system and train personnel in its use
Track safety training and recommend revisions or updates to programs
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, and recordkeeping requirements
Communication and Collaboration
Communicate safety information to all levels of the organization
Work proactively with contractors to ensure alignment with Ambler Metals' safety programs
Support a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Health and Safety Technician or Safety Professional certification preferred
OSHA‑authorized Construction or General Industry Trainer preferred
At least 3 years of experience facilitating safety programs, preferably in remote camps or worksites
Current CPR and First Aid certification
40‑Hour HAZWOPER training preferred
Valid Driver License required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Extensive knowledge of safety protocols and applicable OSHA standards
Strong understanding of company safety policies
Ability to work effectively in a team setting and lead when necessary
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to conduct training
Ability to be flexible and adaptable to change
Knowledge of safe remote operational procedures
Ability to deal tactfully with staff, contractors, and visitors
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work for extended periods in a remote location with exposure to inclement weather
Ability to travel on foot in rugged terrain and throughout camp; occasional helicopter and fixed‑wing travel
Working Conditions
Seasonal position with a rotational schedule anticipated from May through September
Start date in Q1 2026 to prepare for the field program
Remote camp environment with exposure to snow, rain, wind, and extreme temperatures
Travel to worksites may require helicopter or fixed‑wing aircraft
Regular movement on foot across rugged terrain
