About the Role
We are seeking an Automotive Owner Guide Author to join a growing technical publications team supporting a leading automotive manufacturer. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented individual with experience in technical documentation, automotive publications, or related content creation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing clear, user-friendly owner information designed to help customers understand and operate their vehicles safely and effectively. You will work closely with engineering and product teams to transform complex technical information into engaging, accessible content for global audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain owner-facing vehicle documentation in clear, concise language suitable for translation into multiple languages and formats.
- Develop content that explains vehicle features, controls, systems, symbols, maintenance requirements, and owner-performed procedures.
- Produce and manage a range of owner information materials, including:
- Owner Manuals
- Service Records
- Vehicle-Specific Guides (e.g. performance driving, off-road operation, specialist vehicle usage)
- Customer support and recovery information
- Ensure all content is accurate, consistent, and aligned with brand, technical, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering, product development, aftersales, and technical specialist teams to gather and validate information.
- Support the delivery of both printed and digital documentation across multiple markets and languages.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of documentation processes, standards, and content quality.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Experience creating, editing, or managing technical documentation, publications, or customer-facing content.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical information.
- Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent IT skills and confidence working with digital publishing tools and software applications.
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality content.
- Positive, proactive attitude with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
Desirable
- Experience within the automotive industry, particularly in owner literature, technical publications, service documentation, or vehicle information systems.
- Familiarity with CAD data, engineering documentation, or technical visualisation tools.
- Understanding of vehicle development processes and automotive product lifecycles.
- Experience supporting multilingual content delivery and translation processes.
