The event was organised by staff members Eduardo Saavedra and Andreea-Daniela Coroama. Employers were able to promote their opportunities to students and the UWL Careers and Student Money & Immigration Advice teams were present to share how they can help students in their search for employment.
The event began with a presentation from Careers Team Manager Veejay Mistry, who highlighted all the ways her team can support students in their job search:
Get in touch with us because we've got a range of resources and information that will equip you for job interviews, help you set your career goals and highlight your strengths, knowledge and transferable soft skills.”
Sakshi, an ambassador for job readiness platform for international students Student Circus, shared some of her experiences as an international student in London and gave some helpful tips on standing out from the crowd:
As an international student looking to get a head start, you need to be super proactive. Make sure that you're building your connections on LinkedIn. Keep reaching out to employers and asking them for application tips and you never know where you might strike gold.”
The students got to hear presentations from employers HSBC, Contentful, Richmond Hill Hotel, TalentView Aviation, Stage Talent Academy, Recsy HR Ltd, Clayton Hotel, Angsana Business Consulting and recruiters Reed Specialist Recruitment.
We are looking for graduates or soon-to-be graduates who want to jump into a dynamic and fast-paced career,”
explained Emily from growth technology company Contentful.
Graduate Nikita, who has recently completed her MBA, said about the event:
It has been great to meet the employers directly and I’ve been given so much good advice on different techniques to show my value on my CV, cover letter and in interviews.”
