About the Role
Job Purpose
To provide strategic and professional property surveying expertise to support the effective management, development, and optimisation of the organisation's property portfolio. The Strategic Property Surveyor will lead on asset management initiatives, property strategy, and major property projects to ensure assets are safe, compliant, and deliver best value.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and contribute to the development and delivery of the organisation's property and asset management strategy.
Provide professional surveying advice on the acquisition, disposal, and redevelopment of property assets.
Carry out and oversee condition surveys, stock assessments, and lifecycle planning for the property portfolio.
Develop and manage planned maintenance and capital investment programmes.
Prepare business cases, options appraisals, and reports to support strategic property decisions.
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including health & safety, building regulations, and property-related legislation.
Manage and monitor major works, refurbishment, and development projects from feasibility through to completion.
Procure and manage external consultants and contractors, ensuring value for money and performance standards are achieved.
Provide expert advice on landlord and tenant matters, dilapidations, and lease-related issues where required.
Support corporate objectives through effective use of property assets, including rationalisation and optimisation of estate usage.
Analyse property performance data and asset information to inform strategic planning and investment decisions.
Liaise with internal stakeholders, senior managers, and external partners to deliver property-related programmes.
Ensure accurate records are maintained on asset management systems and property databases.
Contribute to budget planning, cost control, and financial forecasting for property services.
Promote sustainability, energy efficiency, and carbon reduction through property strategy and projects.
Knowledge & Experience (Essential)
Degree in Building Surveying, Property, or a related discipline.
Experience working in property surveying, asset management, or estates management.
Knowledge of property legislation, health & safety regulations, and building standards.
Experience of managing property projects and planned maintenance programmes.
Experience in preparing reports, business cases, and options appraisals.
Ability to provide strategic advice to senior stakeholders.

Confident using property and asset management systems and Microsoft Office.
