About the School:
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Key Stage 1 Teacher to join a primary school in Derby that is committed to providing a supportive and inspiring environment for our young learners. The successful candidate will play an essential role in creating an engaging, stimulating, and safe learning environment for children in Years 1 and 2.
Role Overview:
As a Key Stage 1 Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons that engage, inspire, and challenge students in their early education. Your focus will be on creating a foundation of strong academic skills, personal growth, and positive attitudes toward learning. You will work collaboratively with staff, parents, and the wider school community to ensure that every child in your class thrives academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the diverse needs of Key Stage 1 students
Use a range of teaching methods and resources to promote active learning and curiosity
Monitor and assess students' progress, providing constructive feedback and setting achievable goals
Foster a positive, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment
Support students in developing their social, emotional, and personal skills
Collaborate with colleagues to plan a broad and balanced curriculum
Build positive relationships with students, parents, and carers, providing regular updates on progress
Contribute to the school's extracurricular activities, supporting school events and initiatives
Uphold high standards of behavior and work with the wider school community to promote a positive school ethos
Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice
Key Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching in Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) or a strong understanding of the age group
A thorough knowledge of the National Curriculum and effective teaching strategies for young learners
Excellent classroom management skills and a positive, proactive approach to student behaviour
Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues
A passion for working with young children and a commitment to making a positive impact on their development
A strong understanding of child development and early years education
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
