Pupil Support Worker – SEMH Setting (Secondary)

We’re working with a specialist SEMH setting in Portsmouth looking for a Pupil Support Worker to support students in Key Stages 3 & 4 who need something different from mainstream education.
This isn’t a standard classroom role.
These are students who need consistency, patience and someone firmly in their corner. Progress doesn’t always look like perfect work – sometimes it’s simply showing up, engaging, or trusting an adult for the first time.
What you’ll be doing:
• Building strong, trusting relationships with students• Supporting pupils in lessons, 1:1 and in small groups• Helping students regulate emotions and re-engage with learning• Providing calm, consistent support during challenging moments• Supporting positive behaviour using trauma-informed approaches• Working closely with teachers and wider support staff

Requirements:
• Experience working with children or young people• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle• DBS on the Update Service• Up to date safeguarding training
