Overview
Are you an experienced Maintenance Manager or Facilities Manager looking for a new challenge in Birmingham? We’re recruiting for a hands-on Maintenance Manager to lead a team of six engineers at a prestigious college campus. This role offers a great opportunity to take ownership of a large, well-maintained site with excellent facilities, managing all aspects of building maintenance, compliance, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a team of six maintenance engineers and technicians across electrical, mechanical, and building fabric disciplines.
Oversee all planned and reactive maintenance (PPM & reactive) to ensure the site operates efficiently and safely.
Lead on statutory compliance, including electrical testing, emergency lighting, fire systems, HVAC, water hygiene, and health & safety checks.
Manage external contractors, ensuring high-quality delivery and best value for money.
Control maintenance budgets, procurement of parts, and life cycle planning.
Support small project works, refurbishments, and sustainability initiatives.
Ensure all work is carried out in line with H&S legislation and company procedures.
Act as the key contact for maintenance and facilities issues on site.
Requirements
Previous experience as a Maintenance Manager, Facilities Manager, or Building Services Manager.
Strong technical background – mechanical, electrical, or multi-skilled trade qualified (City & Guilds / NVQ / HNC).
Experience managing teams, contractors, and PPM schedules.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Knowledge of CAFM systems and compliance reporting.
