Technical Project Manager (Network / Event Deployments)
Remote | Travel: Up to 75%
Are you a hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in enterprise networking and high-density Wi-Fi who thrives in fast-paced, large-scale event environments? We are seeking a Technical Project Manager to lead the design, deployment, and execution of temporary network infrastructures, with a strong focus on LAN, enterprise Wi-Fi, and secure network architecture.
This role blends advanced network engineering with project leadership, delivering resilient, high-performance connectivity across high-profile events.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end planning, design, and deployment of enterprise LAN and high-density Wi-Fi networks for temporary event environments.
- Drive implementation of networking solutions across Cisco, Aruba (HPE), and Extreme Networks platforms, including switching, routing, and wireless infrastructure.
- Architect and oversee secure network designs, including firewalls, segmentation, access control, and threat mitigation strategies.
- Manage deployment of network security technologies (e.g., firewalls, NAC, VPNs) to ensure compliance with enterprise and event-specific requirements.
- Coordinate with internal engineering teams, vendors, carriers, and venue stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable connectivity.
- Oversee integration of WAN, internet circuits, and cellular/5G solutions (e.g., DAS, small cells) into the broader network architecture.
- Lead capacity planning and RF design for high-density user environments (stadiums, conferences, live events).
- Manage project timelines, budgets, logistics, and resources across multiple concurrent deployments.
- Oversee installation, configuration, testing, and commissioning of network infrastructure (LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi).
- Provide real-time troubleshooting and escalation support during live events.
- Ensure adherence to networking standards, security best practices, and operational procedures.
- Produce detailed documentation including network diagrams, deployment runbooks, and post-event reports.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in enterprise networking with strong focus on LAN, routing/switching, and Wi-Fi.
- Deep hands-on expertise with Cisco networking technologies (Catalyst, Nexus, Meraki, Wireless).
- Experience with Aruba Networks (HPE) and/or Extreme Networks wireless and switching solutions.
- Strong experience designing and deploying high-density Wi-Fi networks.
- Proven knowledge of network security, including firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA/Firepower), segmentation, and secure access.
- Solid understanding of IP networking: VLANs, QoS, DHCP, DNS, NAT, and routing protocols.
- Experience leading complex, fast-paced network deployments (events, temporary builds, or large-scale rollouts).
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cisco certifications (CCNP, CCIE) strongly preferred.
- Experience with Aruba (ACMP/ACSP) or Extreme Networks certifications.
- Familiarity with network monitoring, telemetry, and troubleshooting tools.
- Experience with fiber infrastructure, circuit provisioning, and WAN design.
- PMP or equivalent project management certification.
- Background supporting large-scale events (sports venues, conventions, festivals) with high concurrent user demand.
