​The Role: Storage Principal Engineer Location: Sheffield, UK Position Type: Contract Inside IR35 Implementation Partner: HSBC Remote work option Available: Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite ​ Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership: Develop and maintain the long-term strategy for storage infrastructure, ensuring alignment with the bank’s overall IT and business strategies. Function as a subject matter expert and advisor on all matters related to storage technologies, providing guidance to senior leadership and IT teams Architecture & Design: Lead the design and architecture of the bank’s storage solutions, including SAN, NAS, object storage, and cloud-based storage systems. Ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of storage systems to meet the bank’s growing data needs. Implementation & Management: Oversee the deployment, configuration, and management of enterprise storage solutions. Ensure effective data protection strategies, including backup, recovery, and disaster recovery, are in place and regularly evaluated. Optimisation & Performance Tuning: Continuously monitor and optimise storage performance, capacity, and utilisation. Lead initiatives to automate storage management tasks and improve operational efficiency. Security & Compliance: Ensure storage systems comply with industry regulations and internal security policies. Collaborate with the security team to implement robust data encryption, access controls, and other protective measures. ​ Technical Skills Required: Deep knowledge of SAN, NAS, object storage, and cloud storage technologies. Expertise in storage virtualization, performance tuning, and capacity planning Proficiency in storage management tools, automation, and scripting. Strong understanding of data protection, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
