About the Role

A Machinist at Thompson Aero Seating is a skilled operator with an extensive knowledge of CNC machining processes and programming. They will be integral for shop floor problem solving and improvements while also conducting program prove outs in line with the Final Article Inspection (FAI) process. A keen eye for detail and great mechanical aptitude are also essential.  Responsible for operating a number of CNC Machines to their maximum ability with a focus on creativity, ensuring that all products are produced to the required specifications with a focus on world class quality standards, ensuring that targets are consistently met and exceeded. This role is for night shift from 19:30 - 07:30 continental shift pattern in the Machine Shop.  Responsibilities Operate several CNC Machines to produce high quality components, ensuring that production deadlines are met, efficiently, safely and to appropriate quality standards Be completely accountable for world class quality Take ownership of problem solving to maximise machine capabilities and eliminate waste during machining with a key focus on continuous improvement Drive costs out of parts through implementing efficiency and improvement measures Liaise with the Technical Lead to discuss improvements to add value to the machining process consistently raising the bar on standards and leading by example Work closely with engineering, supply chain and quality colleagues to constantly “raise the bar” on process improvement, cost reduction and standards Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality and liaise with the Technical Lead with any machine issues that affect quality and production.
