KS1 Teaching Assistant – Preston

About the role:
Justteachers is seeking a KS1 Teaching Assistant,  who is looking for a long term role in a Primary school in the Preston area on a full time basis. The role is set to commence in September 2026, with shortlisting currently underway.

This successful primary school is known for its caring ethos and positive learning environment. Staff are valued members of the team and play a key role in helping children thrive academically and socially.

Key Skills and Attributes:

• Support teaching and learning across KS1 classrooms
• Deliver targeted phonics and reading interventions
• Work with small groups and individual pupils
• Support pupils with varying learning needs
• Assist with classroom preparation and displays
• Encourage positive behaviour and engagement
• Support assessment activities and pupil progress tracking
• Promote children’s confidence and independence
• Help maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment
• Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff

Pre-requisites:

• Previous UK primary school experience
• Experience supporting pupils within KS1
• Strong understanding of phonics programmes
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils
