About the Role

Hybrid Working We are working with a leading regional law firm to recruit an In-House Costs Draftsperson to join their Family department on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and well-established costing team, providing key administrative and billing support within Legal Aid work. While prior costs drafting experience would be highly advantageous, the firm is also very open to candidates with strong legal administrative experience who are looking to develop into a costs-focused role. You will support the Costs Supervisor and wider team with the preparation and submission of Legal Aid Agency claims, ensuring billing and assessment deadlines are met accurately and efficiently. The role also involves preparing payment on account claims, finalising bills for assessment, reviewing external drafts, and liaising with fee earners and support staff on a range of costing queries. Additional responsibilities include general administrative duties such as data entry, filing, scanning, archiving, and handling telephone queries from clients and third parties. You will also assist with ensuring all processes comply with internal quality standards and Legal Aid requirements, as well as supporting occasional business development and marketing activities. We are looking for someone with excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise effectively in a busy environment. You should be a team player who is proactive, adaptable, and keen to learn. Minimum requirements include at least 5 GCSEs (including English and Maths) and previous experience in a legal or office-based administrative role. This is a great opportunity to join a progressive firm offering hybrid working, strong benefits, and excellent career development opportunities within a structured learning environment.
