Newcastle University Careers Service Support and resources Access support One-to-one support Access personalised careers support and guidance Whether you're looking for guidance on your next steps, need information about where to find jobs, working for yourself, or help with your CV, we’re here for you. You can book an in-person or online appointment or submit a query online through MyCareer. To book an appointment, you’ll need to be: A current Newcastle University student, or A Newcastle graduate from the last 3 years See Eligibility for more details. Types of appointment We have different appointment types on offer to match your needs. These are: Guidance appointments Information appointments CV appointments START UP appointments Find out below about each type of appointment, what they cover, and how to book. Guidance appointment  Our impartial Careers Consultants can assist you to make informed decisions about your career and education plans. In a guidance appointment you can: explore your options if you're unsure what to do during or after your time at university get support if you are thinking about changing or leaving your course plan your next steps identify your skills and spot any gaps improve your applications and personal statements They can also offer interview coaching so you can practice, get feedback and build confidence. To access interview coaching, you’ll usually need a confirmed interview and have had interview preparation advice from us in an Information appointment. Information appointment Need help finding the right information? Our Information and Insights Advisers can support you in an information appointment with advice on tailored resources for: searching for graduate and part-time jobs in the UK and abroad based on your preferred roles and sectors finding placements, internships, work experience and volunteering in your area of career interest researching different careers and employers preparing for interviews and assessment centres making useful contacts They can also give feedback on CVs, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, and teacher training personal statements. CV appointment Whether you're just starting starting to think about writing your CV, cover letter or LinkedIn profile, or want feedback on a draft, our CV Advisers can help you in a CV appointment to: Create your first CV or cover letter Review and improve your existing CVs and cover letters Enhance your LinkedIn profile Booking a CV Appointment? Before booking, we recommend you complete the CV and Covering letter Pathway on MyCareer. This includes uploading your CV or cover letter to our automatic online checker, CareerSet.
