About the Role

Position Summary:

The Sr. Director of Strategic Implementations is a leader responsible for overseeing a large project portfolio, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, and driving operational excellence through standardized project management practices. This role leads a multi-faceted team in delivering high-impact implementations and projects on time, within scope, and on budget, while fostering a culture of accountability, agility, and continuous improvement.

This role provides key leadership and hands-on guidance to a team of professionals with responsibilities for implementing large scale, intricate outsourced business process service in the state and local government space. This unit works in collaboration with the Enterprise Technology Project Management Office. Role reports to the VP of Strategic Implementation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Define and execute the vision, strategy, and roadmap within the team in alignment with corporate objectives.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on project prioritization, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Implementation & Program Oversight:
    • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of the organization’s strategic implementations and programs from an operational perspective
    • Ensure effective governance, reporting, and performance tracking across the project portfolio.
  • Process & Methodology:
    • Establish and continuously improve project management frameworks, tools, and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
    • Promote consistency, quality, and efficiency in project execution across business units.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of program and project managers.
    • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and results-driven team culture.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Partner with cross-functional leaders to ensure alignment, transparency, and stakeholder satisfaction.
    • Communicate project status, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Risk & Change Management:
    • Identify and mitigate project risks and issues proactively.
    • Lead change management efforts to support successful adoption of project outcomes.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Public Administration, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in project/program management, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven track record of leading enterprise PMOs or large-scale transformation initiatives.
  • Experience working with state and local government agencies.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, SAFe, etc.).
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with project portfolio management (PPM) tools and enterprise systems.

 

Potential travel 2-3 times per year.
