About the Role
Are you an experienced War & Terrorism Underwriter, or an Assistant Underwriter ready to step up into a full underwriting role?
This is an opportunity to join a respected and ambitious specialty team underwriting the full spectrum of War & Terrorism risks across sectors including retail, industrial, leisure, financial services, logistics, energy, mining, and construction.
The syndicate leads a Lloyd’s Consortium with limits up to $100m, offering solutions for complex, global risks and is recognised as one of the market leaders in this space.
The role:
Underwrite and develop the global War & Terrorism portfolio in line with class strategy and the syndicate’s business plan.
Manage broker and client relationships, representing the syndicate credibly in London and internationally.
Assess risks across perils including terrorism, sabotage, strikes/riots/civil commotion, malicious damage, insurrection/rebellion, coup d’état, civil war/war, and NCBR terrorism.
Contribute to business planning, portfolio monitoring, and product development (including add-on covers such as terrorism liability, denial of access, loss of attraction, and BI extensions).
Mentor and support junior members of the team while collaborating across underwriting and claims.
What we’re looking for:
Strong technical underwriting knowledge of War & Terrorism classes with proven London Market experience.
Excellent geopolitical awareness and ability to translate global events into underwriting decisions.
Credibility and presence in the Lloyd’s market with strong broker and client relationships.
Analytical mindset, strong decision-making skills, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Professional qualifications (e.g. ACII) and relevant academic background (IR, Politics, History) advantageous.
