About the Role
We are seeking a resilient, compassionate, and skilled SEMH Teacher to join a dedicated specialist team at a forward-thinking SEMH school in Essex. This is an exciting opportunity to transform learning experiences for young people who require tailored support to reach their potential.
In this role, you will plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons that engage and motivate students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. You will use a trauma-informed approach, supported by strong behaviour management skills, to create a safe and positive learning environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality, differentiated teaching to meet the needs of students with SEMH
Create a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment
Implement effective behaviour management strategies in line with school policy
Build strong, trusting relationships with students, staff, and families
Monitor progress, record achievements, and adapt teaching as required
Contribute to curriculum development and whole-school initiatives
Collaborate with therapists, support staff, and external agencies to support individual needs
Promote students’ personal, social, and emotional development alongside academic progress
Qualifications and Experience
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience teaching students with SEMH or in alternative provision (preferred)
Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, adaptable approach
Understanding of trauma-informed practice and strategies for supporting SEMH learners
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Resilience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to student success
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
