About the Role

POSITION TITLE   Laurel Plant - Instrumentation & Electrical Reliability Engineer   POSITION OVERVIEW  We are seeking a technically strong and hands-on I&E Reliability Engineer to lead electrical, instrumentation, and automation reliability initiatives within a chemical manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for improving equipment uptime, strengthening preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and ensuring compliance with electrical and safety standards in a PSM-regulated facility. This is a high-impact role that blends technical depth, field troubleshooting, team leadership, and continuous improvement. The work schedule for this role is Monday – Friday, 1st shift; however, on occasion, you may be required to work additional hours and on a call rotation.   RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in minimizing downtime/breakdowns and maximizing productivity, monitor performance, and manage routine maintenance processes. Ensure that world-class maintenance best practices related to Predictive and Preventive maintenance are followed and executed in a timely manner. Support and monitor the performance of diagnoses and repairs of plant control and automation systems. Participates in RCAs - Failure Analysis when significant problems occur, and compares performance to existing standards. Develop performance expectations, standards, procedures, and audit performance, document findings, and establish corrective action plans. Collaborates on audits, safety observation, 5S initiatives, needs assessments, preventive maintenance, safety management processes and procedures, and other process routine management activities to identify opportunities for improvement and solve problems. Support and monitor electrical and control installations and construction projects as needed. Provide technical assistance for difficult electrical and instrumentation problems. Ensure all safety requirements are met and that I&E technicians have all the proper materials, tools, and equipment to do their jobs effectively and safely. Support and monitor proper specification and application knowledge for intrinsic safety and explosion-proof classifications. Support and troubleshoot motor problems (direct drive and VFD), including specification and selection of any required replacement parts. Provide technical assistance with troubleshooting, installation, and repair of ROV valves and actuators. Collaborate with Reliability Engineers to ensure compliance with the calibration of all types of field instruments. Maintains current and accurate P&IDs (symbols, tags, and instrument lines), wiring diagrams, and instrument loop drawings. Ensure compliance with electrical standards NFPA 70E, local regulations, and procedures to prevent accidents. Enforce all Electrical codes, NEC, for current and new projects. Supervise, train, mentor, and direct I&E technicians, ensuring quality and safety. Performs diagnoses and repairs of plant control and automation systems, including PLC and HMI. Collaborate with other department staff, management, and/or vendors to resolve problems, to communicate department needs, to facilitate system improvements, and to coordinate the purchase or service of equipment. Track direct report hours, absences, and vacations. Assist in tracking, evaluating, and reviewing associate performance.    QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED Bachelor’s degree, Electrical Engineering or closely related field. 3 years’ industrial experience.  Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to demonstrate initiative and ownership with little supervision. Hands-on experience in Root Cause Failure Analysis. Experience in defining and implementing I&E Preventive and Predictive Maintenance programs, and experience in implementing, tracking, and analyzing Key Performance Indicators for equipment reliability performance. Demonstrated ability to lead team members.   QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED Experience in Chemical Manufacturing or other process plant design, construction, and/or maintenance Hands-on experience in CMMS SAP
