About Our Client
A newly created position for an experienced Export Shipping Manager to lead and develop all export logistics activities for a growing international business operating within the industrial and energy sectors.
This is a standalone leadership role with responsibility for managing the end-to-end export process across global markets, ensuring the efficient movement of goods via both air and sea freight. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting international growth, maintaining compliance, and driving best practice across all export operations.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities of the Shipping Manager will cover;
- Manage all export shipping activities across international markets.
- Coordinate and oversee shipments by both air freight and sea freight.
- Ensure compliance with UK export regulations, customs requirements, and international trade legislation.
- Prepare and review all export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, dangerous goods declarations, and export customs paperwork.
- Liaise with freight forwarders, shipping lines, airlines, customs brokers, and overseas customers.
- Monitor shipment performance, lead times, and transport costs, identifying opportunities for improvement and cost savings.
- Manage export schedules to ensure customer delivery requirements are achieved.
- Support sales, operations, and customer service teams with shipping advice and export-related queries.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and provide KPI reporting to management.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental standards.
The Successful Applicant
The successful Shipping Manager will have exposure:
- Proven experience in an Export Shipping Manager, Export Logistics Manager, or International Logistics role.
- Strong working knowledge of international shipping procedures covering both air and sea freight.
- Experience handling export documentation and customs compliance.
- Knowledge of Incoterms, freight forwarding, and international trade regulations.
- Experience coordinating shipments to multiple global destinations.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Experience within the oil & gas, engineering, manufacturing, or industrial sectors.
- Knowledge of shipping hazardous or regulated goods.
- Relevant logistics, freight forwarding, or international trade qualifications.
