About this PositionThe Department of Music at Langston University invites applications for Adjunct Instructors to teach across a broad range of instructional areas within the music curriculum. Adjunct faculty may teach applied lessons in their primary performance area (instrument or voice) and may also be assigned to teach core music courses as needed. Core teaching areas may include instrument or voice technique courses, music survey/appreciation, theory, aural skills, small ensemble participation or directing, and other related subjects. These in-person positions require a consistent campus presence aligned with instructional responsibilities.

Demonstrated expertise and professional experience in the candidate’s primary performance area (instrument or voice), evidenced through teaching, performance, or a combination of both.
Prior teaching experience at the post secondary level, community music programs, K–12 settings, or private studio instruction.
Experience teaching applied music lessons (instrumental or vocal) to students at varying skill levels.
Working knowledge of core music curriculum areas such as music theory, aural skills, music appreciation/survey, technique courses, or ensemble participation/direction.
Experience developing and delivering course materials, lesson plans, and assessments aligned with learning outcomes.
Ability to provide constructive, timely feedback and support student academic and artistic development.
Experience working collaboratively within a department and contributing to a student-centered learning environment.
Availability to maintain an in-person campus presence consistent with instructional and departmental responsibilities.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
Earned terminal degree in music or a related field (DMA, DME, PhD, or equivalent).
Experience teaching applied lessons and/or academic music courses at the college or university level.
Background in ensemble leadership and/or teaching multiple instructional areas within a comprehensive music program.
Demonstrated dedication to student success, diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education.
Excellent teaching, communication, and student-engagement skills.
