As Communications and Engagement Officer, you’ll have an exciting opportunity to use your proven communications skills, curiosity and creativity within a professional and purpose-driven environment – helping to ensure the work of the Ombudsman is clearly understood, effectively communicated and positively experienced.

Reporting to the External Communications Manager, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality communications and engagement to a range of external audiences. Using clear storytelling, digital tools and visual communication, you’ll help the Ombudsman connect with its audiences in meaningful and effective ways. This will include political stakeholders, as well as residents and landlords.

Specifically, your remit will include:

  • contributing to the delivery of the communications and stakeholder engagement strategy, bringing fresh thinking to how messages are developed and shared;
  • creating high-quality, accessible content across a range of formats – including video, graphics and digital media – ensuring communications are clear, engaging and on-brand;
  • developing and delivering communications plans for projects, campaigns and channels, using insight and feedback to continuously improve approach and impact; and
  • supporting the delivery of external stakeholder engagement and policy programmes including drafting content, maintaining stakeholder databases, sharing approved communications and organising events.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • curious and proactive, with a genuine interest in improving how organisations communicate with their external audiences
  • creative and solutions-focused, able to present information in clear, engaging and accessible ways
  • digitally confident, with an understanding of modern communication channels and tools
  • collaborative and approachable, able to build strong working relationships
  • organised and responsive, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
  • committed to continuous improvement, using feedback and insight to improve results

It’s an exciting time to join us and to contribute your skills to the evolution of our ambitious, influential and growing organisation.

In addition to the salary offered, we also offer a range of other benefits including a commitment to a healthy work / life balance, including a 35-hour working week.
