About the Role
Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
On-site | Philadelphia, PA
Cherry Bekaert is partnered with a well-capitalized, growth-oriented financial institution in the Philadelphia market to identify an Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This is a full-time, on-site engagement (5 days/week) expected to last approximately 2–3 months while a permanent search is conducted.
This organization has experienced significant asset growth over the past several years and is positioned for continued expansion. The Interim CFO will step into a stable, well-run finance function and serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership during this transition period.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all finance and accounting activities, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and audit coordination
Monitor the organization’s financial health, liquidity, and interest rate risk
Prepare and present financial results, forecasts, and analysis to executive leadership and the Board
Ensure timely and accurate regulatory and financial reporting in compliance with state and federal banking requirements
Review financial statements, projections, and budget-to-actual results; provide insights and recommendations as needed
Variance analyses, liquidity ratio monitoring, and dashboard reviews
Partner with senior leadership on financial planning, cost controls, and strategic initiatives
Oversee investment portfolio analysis and reporting
Provide leadership and guidance to an established finance and accounting team
Ensure strong internal controls, audit readiness, and adherence to regulatory standards
Team Structure
Direct oversight of two experienced finance professionals who manage day-to-day accounting and reporting functions
Finance operations are well automated, stable, and running smoothly
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration (MBA preferred)
CPA required
Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, and financial leadership
Must have strong CFO level knowledge of banking regulations, compliance, and financial reporting requirements
Experienced with bank reporting and reviews involving ALCO, FHLB Advances, QCR reporting, CLA audit
Proven ability to operate effectively in a senior executive, hands-on leadership role
Excellent communication, judgment, and stakeholder management skills
