On behalf of NRS, we are looking for Waste and Decommissioning Technicians for 12 month contracts based in Harwell. As a Waste and Decommissioning Technician, your main responsibilities will be to: Ensure positive identification of hazards via Point of Work Safety Assessment (POWSA). Ensure work areas are maintained and any remedial action carried out in a timely manner to the site standards. Solve routine operational problems using efficiency improvement techniques. Contribute to effective team working and team building, working closely with the site project teams, supporting the communication and understanding of waste management objectives. Daily reporting and quality feedback to team leader to support the progress of work. Operate cranes and perform rigging duties, and may also be required to drive a forklift, for which full training will be provided. Essential: Appropriate technical qualification (e.g., City & Guilds, BTEC, NVQ at NQF Level 2) or relevant equivalent experience. Demonstrable experience working in a highly regulated environment, ensuring compliance with operational, safety, and organisational standards. Valid crane driver’s licence, with the ability to operate lifting equipment safely and competently. SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance. Desirable: Knowledge of radiological matters and nuclear safety standards. Experience of working in waste management and/or industrial waste.
