Teaching Assistant – Early Years / Key Stage 1 (1:1 & Classroom Support)
Permanent – Littlehampton
A warm and dedicated Teaching Assistant is required to join a friendly primary environment in the Littlehampton area. The role involves supporting a child with additional needs on a one‑to‑one basis, as well as contributing to the wider classroom team.
About the Role
You will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to help a pupil engage with daily learning, build confidence, and access the curriculum at their own pace. This will include adapting tasks, providing reassurance, and supporting the pupil through routines and unstructured times of the day. Midday supervision duties form part of the position.
This is an excellent role for someone who enjoys working collaboratively and wants to make a meaningful difference to a child’s school experience.

Flexibility and willingness to adapt to different needs
Experience in a school setting or working with SEND is beneficial but not essential
Ability to follow guidance and break down tasks into manageable steps
Confidence in supporting emotional regulation and personal care if needed
Your Responsibilities
Support for Pupils
Provide 1:1 support and assist with small group activities when required
Promote independence, positive behaviour and engagement in learning
Support the pupil with personal care, first aid or welfare needs where appropriate
Create or modify resources to support learning
Encourage participation in teacher-led activities and social interaction with peers
Support for Teaching & Learning
Prepare learning areas, organise resources and help maintain classroom displays
Feed back observations about progress, achievements and concerns
Assist with classroom behaviour management strategies
Provide basic admin support such as photocopying and resource preparation
Support for the School
Follow all safeguarding, health & safety and confidentiality procedures
Promote inclusion and ensure equal access to learning opportunities
Attend training, meetings and CPD sessions as required
Support pupils during breaktimes, lunchtimes and school trips
Additional Information
This is a permanent role based within EY or KS1 depending on the needs of the setting. Duties may change over time as the school or pupil needs evolve.
All applicants will be required to undergo enhanced DBS checks and standard safeguarding procedures.
