About the Role

<p><strong>Information Security Officer needed in Derby Paying  £26.73 per hr ref 5296350</strong></p> <p><strong>Full time hours on a temporary basis</strong></p> <ul> <li> <p>We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable <strong>Information Security Officer</strong> to lead and promote best practice in information security across the organisation. This role is key to embedding a strong security culture, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and safeguarding sensitive data.</p> <hr /> <p><em><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></em></p> <p><strong>Information Security Culture &amp; Training</strong></p> <ul> <li>Promote information security best practice across the organisation</li> <li>Design and deliver engaging security awareness training to embed a strong compliance culture</li> <li>Support staff in understanding and applying information security principles in their day-to-day roles</li> </ul> <p><strong>Policy &amp; Governance</strong></p> <ul> <li>Develop, implement, and maintain information security policies, procedures, and standards</li> <li>Recommend and implement updates to policies in line with regulatory changes and evolving risks</li> <li>Champion a “security by design” approach across all business functions</li> </ul> <p><strong>Risk, Audit &amp; Compliance</strong></p> <ul> <li>Conduct information security audits and support wider assurance activities</li> <li>Identify vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies</li> <li>Ensure compliance with data protection and information governance requirements</li> </ul> <p><strong>Incident Management</strong></p> <ul> <li>Manage the organisation’s information security incident process</li> <li>Ensure incidents are identified, investigated, recorded, and escalated appropriately</li> <li>Lead investigations and liaise with external bodies (such as regulators) where required</li> <li>Ensure lessons learned are captured and embedded into future processes</li> </ul> <p><strong>Project &amp; Change Support</strong></p> <ul> <li>Work closely with project teams to ensure new initiatives comply with security policies and best practice</li> <li>Support and promote the use of Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs)</li> <li>Provide expert advice on data protection and information security considerations during change programmes</li> </ul> <p><strong>Strategic Contribution</strong></p> <ul> <li>Lead key workstreams on behalf of the Information Governance function</li> <li>Support and deliver business-critical change projects related to information security and governance</li> <li>Contribute to continuous improvement of security frameworks, controls, and processes</li> </ul> <p>If you are interested in the role, please email your CV to verity@essentialemploy.co.uk quoting the reference number. </p> <p> </p> </li> </ul> <p>Essential Employment is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy.
