About the role:
Justteachers is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Support Worker to join a supportive and inclusive setting in the Leeds area on a long-term basis. This full-time position is due to start in September, with shortlisting currently underway. The setting is committed to providing a safe, nurturing and engaging environment where children and young people with additional needs can thrive and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
• Providing one-to-one and small group support to children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
• Supporting individuals with communication, social, emotional and developmental needs
• Promoting independence, confidence and positive engagement in learning and daily activities
• Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff, families and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for service users
Pre-requisites:
• Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, health and social care, youth work or support work
• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND
• A good understanding of additional needs, including autism, ADHD and learning difficulties
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient and caring approach
• Two professional references, ideally from education, care or support-based settings
