About the Role

About the role:

We are currently recruiting for an experienced and driven Head of SEND to join a forward-thinking educational setting on a full-time, long-term basis starting in September. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a passionate SEND professional who is committed to ensuring that pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities receive the highest quality support, provision, and educational outcomes.

The successful candidate will lead and develop the school’s SEND provision, working strategically with senior leaders, teachers, support staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure every pupil is given the opportunity to thrive. This role would suit an experienced SENDCO, Assistant SENDCO, or senior leader with a strong background in SEND and inclusive education.

You will be an organised, compassionate, and highly effective leader with a genuine passion for inclusive education. You will have the vision and expertise to drive outstanding SEND provision, empower staff, and ensure that every pupil receives the support they need to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the strategic development of SEND provision across the school.
  • Ensure all pupils with SEND receive the appropriate support and interventions in line with their individual needs and EHCPs.
  • Monitor pupil progress and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND provision, implementing improvements where necessary.
  • Manage and support SEND staff, Teaching Assistants, and intervention teams to ensure the highest standards of support.
  • Build strong relationships with parents, carers, local authorities, and external professionals to secure positive outcomes for pupils.

Pre-requisites:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • SENDCO qualification (or willingness to work towards it, where applicable).
  • Proven experience leading or coordinating SEND provision within a school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, EHCP processes, and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
