About the Role
<p><strong>Mechanical Engineer – Plant / Agricultural</strong><br /> <strong>St Albans, Hertfordshire</strong><br /> <strong>£50,000 – £65,000 Basic DOE + Overtime + Company Vehicle + Training</strong></p>
<p>A well-established groundworks contractor is looking to add a Mechanical Engineer to their growing team. This is a stable, days-based role offering training, overtime, and long-term progression within a supportive business.</p>
<p>The company operates across construction and groundwork projects, maintaining their own fleet of HGVs and plant machinery, working on manufacturers such as <strong>DAF, JCB, and John Deere.</strong></p>
<p>You will mainly be based at the depot, carrying out servicing, repairs, and diagnostics across a mixed fleet. The role offers autonomy in your day-to-day work, with occasional travel to local sites when required. Varied role, great opportunity working on different machinery where no two days are the same. </p>
<p><strong>Duties:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Service, maintain, and repair plant and commercial equipment</li>
<li>Diagnose faults and complete mechanical repairs</li>
<li>Primarily workshop-based with occasional site visits</li>
<li>Work across a mixed fleet including HGVs and plant machinery</li>
<li>Overtime available at enhanced rates</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience as a Mechanical Engineer / Plant Fitter / Technician</li>
<li>Background in plant, agricultural, or commercial vehicles</li>
<li>Strong diagnostic and hands-on mechanical skills</li>
<li>Fabrication / Welding Desirable</li>
<li>Able to commute to St Albans and travel locally if needed</li>
